Where Stableford Golf was invented
Yes, that’s correct. Dr Frank Barney Gorton Stableford from Wallasey Golf Club gave his name to the most popular points scoring system ever to be adopted.
At CUGC, we are dedicated to growing the game of golf and our work benefits around 120 golf clubs and thousands of players.

Resounding league win for Cheshire men
Reddish Vale Golf Club were excellent hosts as Cheshire men’s team played Cumbria in their latest Northern Counties League match.All players were very complimentary about the excellent and challenging nature of the historic MacKenzie course backed by superb reception and warm welcome by the club staff and members.Cheshire went into the match buoyed by their big win in their first fixture and they kept the momentum going as they took a very handsome 4.5-1.5 lead

Houldsworth are brilliant hosts for Life Members
Another large field of CUGC Life Members enjoyed their latest competition at the hidden gem of Houldsworth Golf Club.Hidden in the shadows of the huge mills of Stockport’s past in textile manufacture the historic Houldsworth Golf Club repeated its excellent hosting of a CUGC U14 boys fixtures a couple of week previously.A neat and testing course backed by excellent and friendly support from staff and members made this a great day of golf, which fortunately
Hoylake awaits
We are now just one week away from the 98th County Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake.The volume of entries has, not surprisingly given the prestigious venue, been one of the largest we’ve ever seen and inevitably results in a ballot for the 102 places available. James Bledge, Royal Liverpool’s course manager has released a drone flyover of the course, filmed this week, which players and spectators will no doubt find interesting and useful.

U14s win close match at Sandiway
Cheshire u14’s enjoyed a close contest on a terrific course at Sandiway Golf Club against the home club junior side.The players had to endure some heavy rain in the later stages but kept going well showing great spirit.Cheshire u14 organiser Graham McCormack said: “Congratulations on the hard fought win today 4.5 to 3.5, given the number of shots some players had to give to their opponents on their own course, you all did really well.“The

Boys begin title defence with a win
Last year Cheshire Boys u18 team were proud and delighted winners of the inaugural Northern Counties Junior League.They have been working hard during the winter months with their excellent coaches and they certainly reaped the benefits in their opening defence of the trophy.They took on Durham at Prenton and showed their intent as they won the morning Foursomes by 4-1 with wins from Captain Harry Kell (Sandiway) and Lucas Kuiper (Stockport0 3/2, Cole Self (Ringway)

A win for Lymm on home turf
Lymm Golf Club were again fantastic hosts for the Cheshire Junior Team Championships providing a pristine course, great help with organisation and top class clubhouse hospitality on a very busy day.There were over 90 junior boys in the field representing many Cheshire Clubs looking to win the team prize and represent Cheshire in the English County Junior Team Championships at Woodhall Spa in August.The home team from Lymm were aiming to follow in the footsteps

Withington Golf Club were excellent hosts for the Second Cheshire Life Members competition providing a challenging and well conditioned course, backed by great support and a friendly welcome from their staff and members.Top organisation on the day was also provided by Cheshire officials Jerry Dixon and Bob Hamilton.124 players were also able to enjoy wall to wall sunshine during a great day for golf- and so lucky it was not staged the day after of
