Cheshire take on the Army….and win!

Cheshire’s men kept up their great start to the season with a big win in their Annual fixture with The Army at the fine venue of Wychwood Park.
The fixture came about as a result of a conversation between Cheshire team manager Chris Peterson and Major Jack Musgrove, the Army team captain who is a fellow member of Royal Liverpool GC.
At the time Cheshire needed a tougher pre-season fixture list as they prepared for the Northern Counties League so the idea came into being two years with the first match at Lymm GC and at Shrigley Hall in 2023.
Cheshire now host the Army each year and both sides seem to relish and enjoy the fixture.
The Cheshire team was a good mix of experience, talented youth and a few debutants and they got off to flier in the morning foursomes for an interval lead of 5.5-0.5.
The winning pairs were Sam Prince and Paul McFerran, Dan Hayes and Sean Millward, Joel Cann and Liam Kettle, Lewis Gottlieb and Josh Sims and Aaron Mohun and Max Iveson with the old firm of Jon Beesley and Chris Chilton securing a half.
Cheshire kept up their form in the afternoon singles with as 9-3 win taking them to an overall winning score of 14.5-3.5.
Picking up the points for Cheshire were Jon Beesley, Sam Prince, Dan Hayes, Paul McFerran, Sean Millward, Joel Cann, Lewis Gottlieb, Josh Sims and Aaron Mohun to keep the Cheshire team in good fettle for their busy upcoming programme
