Freddie drives in after big lift

There was a big audience on the first tee at Sale Golf Club for the annual Captain’s Drive-in and they witnessed some club history.
Joining Captain Mike Fox, President Ian Bullough and Lady Captain Chris Conville on the tee was Junior Captain Freddie Lee.

Freddie is just 12 years old and believed the youngest-ever to be the Sale Junior Captain and he is much smaller than his two predecessors who were both well over six feet.
Freddie joined his co-officials by ‘kicking off’ the New Year and then being carried by them to the first tee where he hit a superb drive.

Freddie outlined his progress and ambitions in golf: “I attend Culcheth High School and I started playing golf at the age of five with my coach Nick Holmes.
“My dad had taken me to play golf and I thought that it was very interesting so he started booking golf lessons for me.
“My current handicap is 24 and my aim is to get it well below 20 this year.
“My golfing idol is Rory McIlroy and I hope to be a famous golfer like him in the future.”
