Cheshire Boys Under 14 squad have been enjoying playing a variety of course and building team spirit this season to add to their golf experience.

Their latest competition was to play Disley juniors and gain more experience on a different type of course.

U14 organiser Graham McCormack said: “Well done today on quite a tough, hilly course with lots of blind spots.

“Although we lost on paper 4.5 - 3.5, to help Disley we loaned them two of our players, George Bull and our guest, Will Furness, both of whom won their games .

”Many thanks to Stuart Laing, my assistant, Mark Johnson, our professional and Bob Hamilton our treasurer, who all came along to help and support me.

“Additionally I would like to thank all parents who came along today to support their son - a great turnout.

“I would like to offer my 'best wishes' to Mattheus (Matty) and his mum Heckie and dad Riann De Beer.

“They will be leaving our shores in the next couple of weeks to start a new life in the USA, taking with them I am sure, happy memories of their short but successful time with us, both as super parental supporters and Matty for reducing his handicap from 10.2 to a very commendable 6.3 this season. You won your 'Mars Bar Challenge' Matty and you can frame today's picture as a souvenir of your time with us, we'll all miss you, too!

“Our busy schedule continues next week with matches at Bromborough, then at Houghwood versus Lancashire U14s, Eaton, Wallasey and finishing in October at Ringway.”
