Delamere Forest Golf Club have staged the Cheshire Boys Championship since 1984 and they were again superb hosts with great support, hospitality and a course living up to its high-ranking national status.

The players enjoyed a challenging course and perfect weather with very little wind as they played over 36 holes.

Setting a high standard in round one was Bramhall’s Dan Hayes who posted a superb five-under- par 67 to finish ahead of home star Harry Godwin 69, Cole Self (Ringway) 71, Doug Christopher (Styal) 72 and Spencer Davies (Wallasey) and Alfie Oakes (Congleton) both 73.

Dan maintained his momentum in round two with another fantastic round of 66 putting him in a league of his own with his nearest challengers being Aaron Lavelle (Royal Liverpool ) 69 and Cole Self and Aaron Mohun (Delamere Forest) both 70.

Dan’s excellent return of 133 took him well ahead of Cole Self 141, Harry Godwin 142 and Aaron Lavelle and Aaron Mohun, both 144.

He was presented with the winner’s trophy by Cheshire President Martyn Grimley (Ringway) who gave well deserving praise to Dan and his fellow competitors, all at Delamere Forest for their usual top-class help and the county officials for their superb organisation of another memorable tournament.
