Martyn Grimley is the Cheshire County President for 2022

The Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs has announced that the County President for 2022 is to be Martyn Grimley of Ringway GC. Martyn is not only a very accomplished golfer but also an Olympic Gold Medallist having been a member of the victorious Great Britain Hockey team at the Seoul Olympics in 1988.

Under normal circumstances the President serves a year as Deputy President having been appointed at the previous AGM, but the unfortunate resignation of the current Deputy President following  health issues, meant that the County had to adopt a new procedure to ensure that the post would be filled as soon as possible.

Martyn’s golfing ability has been clearly demonstrated over the years as he is a past winner of both the County Seniors’ Strokeplay and Matchplay Championships, and a regular member of the County Seniors’ Team.

The Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs which has just celebrated its Centenary, organises over 50 Championships, Tournaments and Matches each season together with Life Members’ events for the ordinary Club golfer. The President has a largely ambassadorial role and represents the County at various events during his year of office.
