A full field of the top senior golfers in Cheshire showed their skills and talent in the Seniors Strokeplay Championships over two superb days of golf at the superb Warrington Golf Club.
As well as wonderful weather and a fantastic course the players were able to enjoy great hospitality and organisation from the club backed by the superb efficiency of the Cheshire officials before, during and after the competition.
It was close at the end of round one with Peter Tomlinson (Aldersey Green) on top with 73 one clear of Martyn Grimley (Ringway) and Tony Osborne (Warrington) and Martin France (Lymm), Gareth Bradley (Bramhall), John Williams (Prestatyn), Neil Waite (Vicars Cross) and Stephen Hughes (Bramhall) all 75 leaving it all to play for on Day Two
It was Martin France who had the round of the day with 69 to go clear of the field with a 144 total that left him clear of Martyn Grimley 147 and Ian Gemmell (Stockport) 150.
The age group winners were:
65+ Nett Ron Harrison (Ringway) 147, Gross Nick Ryan Ringway) 159
60-64 Nett Rajesh Desai (Stockport) 144, Gross Mike Hassall (The Mere) 151
55-59 Nett Tony Osborne 142, Gross Gareth Bradley 150
Cheshire President David Durling (Shrigley Hall) gave deserving praise to all of the players, the staff and members at Warrington and the Cheshire officials for all playing their part in a great competition that showed the depth of senior golfing talent in Cheshire.
