Avro junior success continues to grow

Junior Captain Beth Tweedale and Junior Vice Captain Matthew Crawford being presented with their badges from the outgoing Captain Ewan Carroll.

Avro Golf Club, situated on the borders of Stockport and Macclesfield, is again justifiably proud of another great season for their thriving junior section despite Covid restrictions.
Junior organiser Iain Carroll said: “The Junior section at Avro has grown to include 23 members in 2021. New members continue to join on a regular basis mostly through recommendation from existing members and their parents.
“We’re hoping for another successful year of recruitment with a particular focus on recruiting more girl members.
“The juniors meet every Saturday afternoon throughout the year only stopping for a short break over Christmas.
“If you are interested in coming along and having a go then please contract either Iain or Tony. The details are on our website.
“Once Covid restrictions were lifted re-opening the clubhouse we were able to hold our junior prize presentation with a full attendance of juniors and parents.
“It was announced that the Junior Captain for 2021 will be Beth Tweedale and the Vice Captain will be Matthew Crawford and they were presented with their badges and caps by outgoing Junior Captain Ewan Carroll.
“The prize winners were:
Ewan Carroll – Most Improved Trophy
Cameron Farrer – Captains 9 - Hole Trophy
George Searl – Vulcan Trophy
Harry Williams – Lady Captains Trophy
Oliver Pickering – Presidents Cup,
Alex Tubb - Captain’s Trophy
