Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs offers cash cheer to our Clubs

From The Cheshire Union of Golf Club's County President, Mr David Durling,

Re-Distribution of Funds
You are aware that for over 100 years now the Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs has sought to support its affiliated Golf Clubs and their members. From the 36 Clubs that formed the CUGC in November 1920 to the 93 affiliated Clubs that we have today, the Union has provided opportunities for those who showed an aptitude for the game of golf by arranging coaching and competitive matches as well as Championships and Tournaments. Through our Life Members' days we have provided the opportunity to play golf throughout the County for those who enjoy their golf but would not perhaps aspire to play for the County Teams.
We have been able to provide these opportunities through careful management of the affiliation fees that you have forwarded to us on behalf of your members, and over the years this has enabled the Union to build up reserves to ensure that we could continue to offer this service whatever the financial circumstances.
As a result of the unprecedented year that we have all endured in 2020, the CUGC Board believes that the time is right to return some of these reserves to you, pro rata with the affiliation fees that you have paid over the last few years.

You will shortly receive a cheque from the Union and whereas there are no strings attached to the process of returning these funds, it is the hope of the Board that your Club will decide to use the money to promote Junior Golf in whatever way you see fit. There will be families that, through no fault of their own, now find themselves in financial hardship and are unable to support the golfing ambitions of their children. If your Club can assist in helping those children to continue to play golf and perhaps to attract more young people to take up the game, then I am sure that we will all benefit in the long run. That said, it is your Club's decision as to how these funds should be used.

On behalf of the CUGC, I hope that the 2021 golfing year will turn out to be far more enjoyable than the last 12 months, and I wish your Club every success as we hopefully return to some form of normality.
Yours faithfully,
David Durling

County President, Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs
