The Annual Gentleman’s Dinner at Reddish Vale Golf Club is traditionally the first official function of the newly appointed Cheshire President and David Durliing (Shrigley Hall) was delighted to attend the usual full house for the special occasion.
The MC for the dinner was Vale legend and food guru Dave Sanders who praised the club chef Gary who again produced a great meal appreciated by all attending with the lamb shanks being fantastic and the cheese board very generous.
The Cheshire President led the entertainment with the main speech following a toast to the historic club and the response was given by Vale Captain David Hamilton.
The first public utterance of the Vale Captain elect Derek Simpkins was the highlight of the evening and his speech making in his year of office will be much anticipated as he proposed a toast to the guests.
The response from the guests was provided by David Besant-Roberts (Chorlton) the Past Captain and Past President of the Manchester and District Golf Captains.
David Durling concluded: “It was a very enjoyable dinner and is the first of many I will be attending in Cheshire’s Centenary Year.”
