Wilmslow Golf Club, a regular venue for county, regional and national golf competitions for many years, has set up an exciting new competition – The Wilmslow Foursomes –for both amateur and professional men and lady golfers.
The pattern of the competition is based on the world famous and long running Sunningdale Foursomes and will take place at Wilmslow GC from March 23-26.
It is the first competition of its kind in the region and there will be an entry, limited to 64 pairs of category one amateurs (ladies and gents) and professionals, playing in any combination with round one on the first day being decided on a totally open draw.
The winners will then play in the next stage on day two with the losers playing in a subsidiary Plate competition.
The knock out will continue with two rounds on days three with the semi-finals and final on the final day with some excellent prizes for the top two pairs in each competition.
Wilmslow manager Gerard Heaslip said: “We have had a quick response after sending the competition details out to clubs and among the early entries are the powerful local professional pair of Tom Murray and Gemma Clews.
“Also making early entries were lady professional Sophie Walker and former Ryder Cup player David Gilford who will be partnering Withington and Cheshire senior star Martin Keates.
“The event will provide an excellent opportunity for players to enjoy an exciting match-play competition with and against some of the top players on a top course.
“To find out more about the details of the competition and to enter can be found on our website www.wilmslowgolfclub.co.uk/wilmslow_foursomes_2020.”
