Cheshire U16 champion Matt Dodd-Berry (Royal Liverpool) has received another call-up for England in two international competitions.
Matt will join three other players to compete in the individual event for the Teodoro Soldati Trophy and will join two other players to form the English team for the concurrent Nations Cup team competition.
The Teodaro Soldati Trophy is named after the rising Italian teenager who was taken ill while representing his country in the 2015 European Boys Team Championship and tragically died a few days later aged just 15.
Matt (15) won this year’s Midland Under 16 Boys’ Championship in what he described as his first start in a big event and was fourth in the North Group Boys Qualifying.
The Italian International Under 16 Championship is a 72-hole stroke play event in which the full field play the opening two rounds on September 3 and 4 before the leading 40 players and those tied for 40th place progress to the final two rounds on September 5.
The Nations Cup is open to teams of three players from the competing countries and runs concurrently with the first two rounds of the individual event. The best two scores out of the three count for the team score in each round.
