Stockport Golf Club provided a great venue for a vital Northern Seniors League match between Cheshire and Yorkshire.
Cheshire had won their two opening games against Cumbria and Northumberland and looked in good shape to take out the White Rose as they led 4-2 after the morning foursomes.
There were halves for Ray Hughes and Chris Mitchelson and Don Campbell and Andrew Hill. Cheshire Captain Gareth Bradley and match-play champion Martyn Grimley were hit by four birdies in the last five holes to go down on the final hole.
Cheer for Cheshire came with wins from Martin France and Euan Dunbar 2-1, Dave Nelson and Steve Blakeway 2 up and John Williams and Martin Keates 3/2 to put them in the driving seat.
The Betterball matches saw Yorkshire on fire in the early games as they posted three wins but Cheshire had the sting in the tail with wins for Martin France and Euan Dunbar 4/3 and John Williams and Martin Keates 2up with a vital half from Dave Nelson and Steve Blakeway ending a superb match at 9-9.
