Lymm stars double up at Wilmslow Junior Open

The Wilmslow Junior Open has been a popular event for juniors across the region for some years and this year attracted a record entry of 117 boys and girls including some top Cheshire juniors.
The competiton has a number of prizes for gross and nett scores and the Wilmslow Junior Trophy goes to the lowest nett score on the day.
Early starter James Coe of Lymm Golf Club set a hot pace posting a nett 61 and over the day his nearest challengers were home stars Ollie Murtagh 64 and Albie Kendrick 67 to see a proud James receive the trophy from Wilmslow Captain John Barnes.
James, 13, was a late entry into the competition and put in some last-minute practice the day before the competition after getting his entry.
In the Boys gross section it was close with three players locked on 70 with Wilf Simcock (Wilmslow) winning the cpo from Ellis Courtnell (Ringway) and Bobby Brightwell (Astbury).
The best u15 nett score was posted by Rocco Norton (Northenden) 65.
The top girl in the nett section prize was presented by Wilmslow Captain Hazel Baker to Ellie Cunningham (Lymm) 71 from Missy Jai Green (Congleton) 73 and the gross winner was Cheshire Girls Captain Naomi Willans 87.
Wilmslow were fantastic hosts on and off the course with superb organisation to make this a day to remember for all of the competitors and a real highlight in their golfing calendar.
