Prestbury Golf Club were proud hosts for the prestigious English Girls Open Amateur Championship which was played over three days with an international field of 140 players.

Looking to defend the trophy she had won in the last two events was Lauren Crump of Hill Valley Golf Club.

Lauren showed her intent to get a hat-trick with excellent opening rounds of 68 and 66 to lead by eight shots from Daisly Lee (Lancaster GC) and 11 ahead of German girls Johanna Kirch and Lena Geier.

The field was cut to the best 40 scores for the final day of 36 holes and the German pair were quick to reduce Lauren’s lead as she could only post 77 in round three with Johanna’s 68 reducing the lead to two shots.

Johanna kept up her momentum in the final round with 71 as Lauren could only post 76 to take the title by three shots from Lauren on 284 with Lena and Daisy next in on 292.

The Germans finished with four girls in the top seven places with Hae Yoo Naa 295 and Luisa Hartmann 299 joining their top two players at the top of the leader board with the prizes and trophy being presented by Prestbury Lady Captain Heather Cunningham.

“We would also like to recognise the incredible team of volunteers from Prestbury and neighbouring clubs. Their commitment, generosity and willingness to give up their time created a welcoming experience for players, officials and spectators alike.

“Special thanks must go to our volunteer leads, Phil and Gill Singh, whose organisation, leadership and tireless efforts ensured our volunteer team operated with professionalism and enthusiasm throughout the week. Their dedication was instrumental in the success of the championship.

“Finally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to England Golf for entrusting Prestbury Golf Club with the opportunity to host such a prestigious championship. It has been a privilege to welcome the country's leading young golfers, and we hope everyone who visited leaves with fond memories of both the championship and our club.
