CHESHIRE CHAMPIONSHIP

at Sandiway Golf Club from Thursday 28th June to Saturday 30th June 2007

The recent bad weather that has affected much of the nation hung like a spectre over the Championship. Over night rain on Wednesday / Thursday threaten to delay the start but sterling work by the Sandiway green staff, headed by Brian Taylor, ensured the event started on time. Friday was a better day but the forecast for Saturday was for more heavy rain. Saturday dawned with heavy rain and an early start was scheduled and play began on time. The consistent rain began to flood some of the greens which brought forth the squeegees which were in operation for the whole tournament, operated with much enthusiasm by members of the Cheshire Union.

This effort, and the venue of Sandiway Golf Club meant that the Championship was completed fully with 72 holes and a worthy champion and other winners emerged.
