Cheshire Order of Merit Format

Revised Format from 2009 Onwards

With effect from the 2009 season, the Cheshire County Executive has decided to revamp the format of the Order of Merit.

The new model will reflect the following:

The Order of Merit will now be calculated on a “rolling-basis”. 2009 will be scored as normal but, at the end of the year, the final position will be carried forward as the starting basis for 2010. As each Tournament is then played in 2010, its result will then substitute its previous year’s result and this will provide a more accurate picture of players’ current form. This is regarded as a very useful tool for the County in its selection process.

It should be noted that this revised format will not produce a different winner in any year than would have been the case under the former system.

Prize money will be increased from the current aggregate of £300 to £500. The winner will receive £250, second-place £150 and third £100.

The detail of the revised points allocation for each Event is shown below.

This new format is designed to highlight more prominently a player’s current playing profile and also recognises the significance of the County’s more Principal Events such as the County Strokeplay and Matchplay Championships. Additionally, it will also reward those who play and perform for the County.

The website will be updated as soon as possible after each Event.

Any queries on the new format should be addressed to the Secretary.
